This is by far the worlds coolest pen. It is the 3doodler 3d printing pen project that is on Kickstarter. It takes the currently hot trend of 3D printing and combines it with free hand drawing. With the 3doodler 3d printing pen you can literally draw images in the air with a plastic polymer that hardens after it comes out of the nozzle of the pen.

In addition to free hand drawing in mid air, there is also another method of creating things shown in the video above. You can actually use the pen to trace over the outline of flat objects and then piece them together. In this example they trace out the outline of the different components of the Eiffel Tower and then later piece them together to form an actual 3D rendering of the Eiffel Tower itself.
The 3doodler 3d printing pen can use multiple color polymers so blue isn’t the only option, although that is what is shown here. This is definitely a technology that is in its infancy as are the skills of those that are using it at this point. I expect that this can become a very cool and useful product for multiple different purposes. I think one of the more useful things for this will be to use it for product prototyping or even just “sketching” out product modifications for existing products.
Either way I think that supporting this project is a great way to contribute to some pretty amazing innovation that can one day help make product development something for the masses. This will no doubt bring more creative and amazing products to market faster than ever imagined before. Do your part if you can to support the worlds coolest pen. We would love to hear your ideas on how you would use this if you had one of your own, feel free to tell us how you would use the 3doodler 3D printing pen.
