Beach vacations are great! The sand, surf and sun can lead to hours of fun. Beach picnics are always a great idea when headed out for a day of bliss in the water. Below are a few ideas for great beach food that not only tastes delicious, but are easy to eat with no utensils required!
All In The Pot– A clam bake is a fun and easy way to bring family and friends together on the beach. You can mix and match the ingredients to suite your tastes, but the concept is always the same. The preparation of a clam bake is quite simple, start a fire pit in a safe place on the beach with either charcoal or wood. place 8 or so potatoes into the bottom of a large pot. Add a layer of clams, shrimp, fish, or other sea food of your liking. Add a layer of corn on the cob. Pour enough chicken broth to cover all ingredients. Add 1/4 cup of butter cut into cubes. Cover with the lid and wrap tightly in aluminum foil. Once the coals or wood have burned to red hot embers, place the pot in the fire pit for about an hour.
While you are waiting for the food to cook, cover your eating area with several pieces of newspaper. When you are ready to eat, simply throw the cooked seafood, potatoes, and corn on the newspaper and let everyone dig in!
Clean-up is a breeze with this recipe as well. When everyone is finished eating, all you have to do is pick up the newspapers and throw away!
Use Your Hands– Sandwiches are the perfect beach food because they are so portable and don’t require plates or utensils. Wrap your favorite sandwiches in parchment paper and tape shut. Add your favorite chips and place in a picnic basket or bag and you have a meal ready to eat on the go.
Roast it– A few sticks and some weenies or sausages are all it takes to create a great beach meal. Thread your stick half-way through your hot dogs or sausages and hold over the fire or hot embers until hot. Place in a bun and top with your favorite condiments. Simple and delicious. The best part is there is no clean up!
While the embers are still roaring, add some marshmallows to your stick. Roast marshmallows until warm and place on a chocolate chip cookie. Add a piece of your favorite candy bar and top with another cookie. These cookie s’mores are the perfect ending to an awesome beach shindig!
Eating while on the beach does offer it’s own set of problems, but with these beach vacation food ideas and a little ingenuity, you can fix a great lunch or dinner that requires little preparation or clean-up and will let you eat and get back to the fun without having to spend all of your time cooking and cleaning. After all, you are on a beach, enjoy it!
