With the highest per-capita percentage of Canada’s population being avid golfers, it is little wonder that the country sports thousands of courses in some of the most beautiful areas in the world. Canada’s most beautiful golf courses tend to be situated where an entire infrastructure exists to make both tourism and golfing an easy and enjoyable activity to while away the time. It should be remembered that most of the golf courses in Canada are seasonal and open only through the spring, summer and fall. It is recommended that you check availability and reserve tee times to assure a spot on the green.

Starting in the Thompson Okanagan region of British Columbia, the city of Kelowna boasts of more than fifty courses within an hour’s drive. Here you will find a Mediterranean climate coupled with vistas of fruit orchids and vineyards nestled in its beautiful hills, lakes and rivers. Of special note is the Tobiano course in Kamloops, claimed to be the absolutely best new golf course in all of Canada. The Predator Ridge course in Vernon exemplifies the awesome scenery the region offers. The course itself provides multiple lake views and gently fluctuating elevations for both aesthetic appeal and a challenge to the golfer’s skill.

Prince Edward Island has concentrated in its barely more than two thousand square miles a host of over thirty breathtaking golf destinations, ten of which are in Top 100 lists of Canadian golf courses. The maritime atmosphere counterpoints the woodland courses and provides scenery and texture to every game. The Brudenell River golf course has a long reputation of being the single most popular course on the Island. The Links at Crowbush Cove are rated by Score Golf Magazine as being the sixth rated golf course in all of Canada and ranks #2 as being a Public course. The beauty of Mill River can be witnessed on television as the home of the Golf Channel’s “Big Break” series.

The Niagara Valley in Ontario has courses that combine both aesthetically pleasing course designs with the natural splendor of the area. The Whirlpool Golf Course offers the Niagara River Whirpool and Gorge as a backdrop for a day of golfing enjoyment. The Thundering Waters Golf Course is located barely more than a thousand meters from the landmark Niagara Falls itself. For thematic pleasure, the Loch Ness Links have been constructed and modeled to resemble golf courses from the Scottish Highlands.

Around Calgary in Alberta, Canada the golf courses take full advantage of the majestic heights of the Rocky Mountains to accent the beauty of their golf courses. For panoramic scenery, the Kananaskis Country Golf Course is situated at the base of the Rockies. The Banff Springs Golf Course is cut directly out of the forest along the Bow River. Not only will a golfer be provided spectacular views of the mountains, they will most likely have to share the course occasionally with the area’s wildlife. You will also have to share the field with the natives at the Silver Tip Golf Course as well. Golfer’ Guide touts it as the “single most breathtaking mountain golf course in the world”.

These listed are but a few of Canada’s most beautiful golf courses in a nation that delights in blending its glorious nature with one of its most popular games.
