Our chakras are defined as energy centers that travel from the spinal cord base to the top of the head. There are a total of seven main chakras. These main chakras are said to each be a round light wheel that spins in a person’s energetic system. They are associated with specific parts of the body, stone, color, function and element. Those who learn to correctly tune into and use their chakra energy are said to be able to embrace their true selves.
The deep red chakra, also referred to as the root or Muladhara, connects people and grounds them to the Earth. People who have this chakra open are able to feel a sense of belonging. They feel that they deserve to be where they are and are generally happy. In order for the deep red chakra to be balanced a person’s basic needs need to be met. Basic needs include food, water and shelter and this specific chakra focuses on a person’s basic needs. The stones associated with this chakra include the bloodstone, ruby and hematite. The element associated with this chakra is Earth. The body part associated with this chakra include the adrenal glands.
The orange chakra, also referred to as the sacral or Svadhisthana, is located directly below the naval in the lower abdominal area. This chakra is associated with pleasure, health, sexuality and feelings. When this chakra is in balance people feel deserving of the pleasure in their lives and they feel abundant. This chakra helps people to deal with their emotions and it helps people to fully feel and express their emotions. The stones associated with this chakra include the tiger’s eye, carnelian and onyx. The element associated with this chakra is water. The body parts associated with this chakra include the ovaries and testicles.
The yellow chakra, also referred to as the solar plexus or Manipura, ignites a person’s sense of power. This chakra helps to center a person and is located in the solar plexus. When this chakra is open people feel worthy of everything that their life has to offer. They are able to take advantage of the power they possess as well as realize their dreams and accomplish them. The stones associated with this chakra include citrine, topaz and amber. The element associated with this chakra is fire. The body part associated with this chakra is the pancreas.
The heart chakra, also referred to as the Anahata, is located in the area of the heart and when balanced creates balance in a person’s life. Those in tune with this chakra will feel compassion and love for themselves. Once they feel this for themselves they will be able to fully love others and extend kindness and compassion to others. Those in tune with this chakra will radiate love and understanding and will be peaceful and connected with their surroundings, other people and the universe. The stones associated with this chakra include diamond, rose quartz and peridot. The element associated with this chakra is air. The body part associated with this element is the thymus.
The blue chakra, also referred to as the throat or Visuddha, is located in the throat and when balanced allows people to be completely authentic in how they live their life. This chakra allows people to openly share their perspectives and communicate openly. They will speak consciously to others by carefully choosing with words and will be respectful to everyone. They will be able to clearly ask for what they desire at all times. The stones associated with this chakra include the blue agate, turquoise and aquamarine. The element associated with this chakra is sound. The body part associated with this chakra is the thyroid.
The violet chakra is located slightly above the space between the eyebrows on the forehead. This chakra helps a person find guidance when making important decisions so that their decisions are informed and fully represent who they truly are. This chakra allows a person to trust their own wisdom. The stones associated with this chakra include the tanzanite, sapphire and lapis lazuli. The element associated with this chakra is light. The body part associated with this chakra is the pituitary gland.
The white chakra, also referred to as the crown or Sahasrara, is located on the top of the head and radiates its light towards the surrounding world. When this chakra is balanced a person will be able to fully accept the world around them. Once they have accepted this they will be able to build up their sense of self which allows them to realize that they deserve to fulfill all of their dreams. This chakra also allows a person to fully love themselves which helps them begin to fully love others and speak the truth while keeping integrity, honesty and respect in mind. When a person is completely in tune with this chakra they finally realize that we are all one. The stones associated with this chakra include the alexandrite and the amathyst. The element associated with this chakra is thought. The body part associated with this chakra is the pineal gland.
