Bahamas
The Bahamas is the southernmost country in the world and has one of the richest cultures in the Caribbean. The country’s name is derived from “Baja Mar”, meaning shallow sea, but they are most famous for their untouched natural beauty. The nation consists of 30 islands with 2 coastal cities, Nassau and Freeport. The sandy beaches are perfect for fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, and all-around relaxation.
Bahrain
Bahrain is a small country in the Middle East. It has many natural resources and is considered to be an economic powerhouse of the Middle East, its exports including oil and gas. Bahrain also has a high standard of living, with one of the highest GDPs per capita in the Middle East. Bahraini citizens are given free education up to secondary level, healthcare services are subsidized, and there are no taxes on personal income.
Bangladesh
Bangladesh is located in South Asia. It has a population of 160 million people and the government is a democratic form of their parliamentary system. Bangladesh has 8 major industries with agriculture, fishing, textile manufacturing, and leather manufacturing being the largest ones. Port City Chittagong is one of the most populous cities in Bangladesh with 5 million people in it alone.
Barbados
Barbados has become one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world. The small island nation boasts an idyllic Caribbean paradise with beautiful beaches, sprawling horticultural farms, and a rich culture of music and art. Since it is not on any major trading route, the culture and customs have been able to thrive in Barbados over time without being influenced by overseas cultures. As a result it is considered a cultural heritage hotspot.
Belarus
Belarus is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe that shares borders with Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland. Belarus became the first European country to declare its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. It experienced a period of economic decline shortly after declaring its independence but has since seen a steady rise in GDP per capita. It’s economy is largely based on agriculture and manufacturing industries.
Belgium
Belgium is a country in Western Europe. It is bordered by the Netherlands, France, and Germany. It occupies most of the southern part of the Belgian region of Wallonia, as well as small parts of the western Flanders region.
The King of Belgium is one of the world’s few constitutional monarchs. The country has an area of 30,528 km2 (11,787 sq mi), with roughly 11 million inhabitants.
Belize
Belize is an English-speaking country in Central America that borders Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. The population of Belize is primarily Mestizo (mix of European and native American ancestry) with an African minority, but there are also Mayan, Creole, Garinagu (mixed African and native American), Chinese, East Indian, Lebanese, Syrian Arab, Iranian, Guatemalan and Mexican groups.
Benin
Benin is a small African country with a population of 10 million. In recent years, the economy has been booming with an 8.4% growth expected this year. There has been vast progress in health services and infrastructure as well as a rise in per capita income. There is a low incidence of poverty with only 8% of people living below the poverty line, but the population suffers from high unemployment rates and illiteracy rates that have not changed much in recent years.
Bhutan
Bhutan is located in the eastern Himalaya region of Asia. Bhutan, an area of just 75,000 square kilometers, is home to around 700,000 people. The country’s population consists mostly of Hindus. Roughly two-thirds are ethnic Bhutanese and one-third are Nepalese immigrants or descendants of Nepalese immigrants.
Bolivia
Bolivia is a landlocked country in Western South America. With over 11 million inhabitants, Bolivia is the second-least populous nation in South America, after Uruguay. It ranges from tropical to semiarid climate in its topography. Bolivia has pursued an economic model of natural gas exports and mineral extraction, much like many other Latin American economies, for decades.
Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country in Central Europe with a population of just over 4 million. The country is ethnically diverse, with three major ethnic groups comprising its population: Bosniaks, Serbs, and Croats. It was created from the former Yugoslavia after the Yugoslav Wars ended in 1995. The country has a free trade agreement with the EU as well as a border agreement with Croatia.
Botswana
Botswana is a country situated in southern Africa. The country borders the Republic of South Africa to the south, Zimbabwe to the north-west, Namibia to the west and Zambia to the north. It has an area of 622,730 km². Botswana has a population of 2,359,912 (2012), which ranks 157th in the world and 8th in Africa.
Brazil
Brazil is the largest country in Latin America and the world’s fifth-most populous. The last 25 years have seen significant economic growth, including decreasing poverty rates, though social inequality remains a problem. Brazil’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2016 was estimated at R$6.383 trillion (US$1.852 trillion).
Brunei
Brunei is a small nation in Southeast Asia. It has a population of just under 400,000 people and is one of the wealthiest nations in the region. The country’s wealth stems from its heavy oil production, natural gas reserves, and vast timber forests. The government is a constitutional sultanate with an advisory legislative council that has very little power. The country is divided into 4 districts: Kuala Belait, Brunei, Tutong, and Temburong.
Bulgaria
Bulgaria is a country in Eastern Europe. The country was formed in 681 AD, making it one of the oldest countries in Europe. Bulgaria borders Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, Romania, and Turkey. The capital of Bulgaria is Sofia, which has a population of 1.3 million people. The Bulgarian language is spoken by more than 13% of the population. There are no official languages in Bulgaria because it is not a bilingual country.
Burkina Faso
Burkina Faso is an African country that has experienced political strife in the past few years. Former president Blaise Compaoré was ousted from power by mass demonstrations in October 2014. The country has experienced numerous coups and changes of government, originally colonized by France. Its largest ethnic group is the Burkinabé which represent more than 80% of the population, followed by 15% who are Fulani and 3% who are Mossi.
Burma
The country of Burma is located in southeast Asia, with the Bay of Bengal to its west. Its land borders are India, China, Thailand, Laos, and Bangladesh. The country’s population is approximately 51 million people. It has a capital city that also serves as the country’s largest city called Yangon.
Burundi
Burundi is a small African country in East Africa. It does not have as wide of a tourist industry as its neighbors, but it does contain some natural beauty and cultural destinations. Lake Tanganyika is the country’s major body of water, and the Burundian people are known for their music.
