In the beauty industry there are thousands of lotions and potions that claim to help take away those dark circles under your eyes, and make your eyes look younger and fresher. Many women buy into these claims just to be frustrated when they see no results except for the big dent in their wallet. The good news is that there are several home remedies that can be done to not only diminish the dark circles under your eyes, but also that can help prevent them from ever forming! Here are some easy ways to get rid of those dark ‘raccoon eyes.’
Drink lots of water This is important for just about every aspect of your beauty and health, and it can help with the dark circles under your eyes. This is because water helps to flush out the system and gives your skin a healthy glow!
Wear sunscreen Sun damage is one of the biggest causes of skin problems and this is also true for dark under-eye circles. One of the reasons for this is because as women age (which is also when they’re most likely to encounter problems with dark circles), the skin under the eye becomes thinner and therefore, more prone to sun damage. Wearing a sunscreen that has an SPF of at least 40 can greatly help keep circles at bay!
Get lots of sleep This may seem like a no-brainer because it’s no secret that if you don’t get enough sleep, your fatigue is certain to shine through in those dark, puffy circles laying just under your eyelids. But as obvious as it seems, this is still the number one reason why people suffer from the dark circles. If you don’t get enough rest, there’s no trick in the world that will ward off dark circles. Make sure you’re getting the proper amount you need on a regular basis.
Reduce your salt. Salt is a huge water retainer and the more water you retain, the puffier and darker those circles will look. Start cutting foods that are high in salt, which are usually fried or pre-packaged foods, out of your diet completely and you’ll be amazed at the impact this has on your eyes!
Vitamins It has not been proven yet that Vitamin K cream can actually help diminish dark circles under the eyes but it has been proven that this essential vitamin can help diminish bruising, which is essentially all these dark circles are. Using a light Vitamin K cream on a daily basis can help get rid of those circles in a snap! Vitamin C can also help as it has known skin-healing components but this can be taken as an oral supplement.
Food. Your diet can also greatly help diminish under eye circles. Foods that are extra-rich in antioxidants will help strengthen blood vessels so including lots of cranberries, blueberries, onions, legumes, and parsley into your diet can also go a great way to getting rid of those circles under your eyes.
