The Dumpsty Mini Dumpster as a Desk Accessory

The Dumpsty Mini Dumpster isn’t technically an office supply, but its definitely something that can be made to be a cool desk accessory that helps keep you organized.  The original intent of the Dumpsty was more of an artistic pursuit so I feel a little bad for normalizing it like this.  I just thought it looked too cool though to pass up the opportunity to use it as a desk accessory like this.

Dumpsty with One Flap Up

Its amazing how much attention went into the detail of the Dumpsty mini-dumpster.  It’s hard to think of a mini dumpster as a work of art, but the incredible quality and all steel construction of these really make them a high end item that you just have to get your hands on to appreciate.  From the independently hinged hard plastic flaps that open and close to the working wheels and even the open slots on each side where a mini-dump truck would be able to lift and flip the Dumpsty to empty it into its bin no detail is left unaccounted for.  If you check out the Dumpsty site, you will see that they come in the blue you see above as well as green, raw steel, and several awesome looking versions with graffiti art on them.

An even closer look at the top of the Dumpsty mini dumpster shows the warnings on the fully functional hard rubber lids.  In this close up picture you can also see that we have applied some of the additional warning stickers that come with it.  You have a good selection of stickers to pick from to customize your Dumpsty and give it some character.

The Dumpsty as a Notebook, Pen and Pencil Holder

In order to justify using the Dumpsty mini dumpster as a desk accessory, I had to find some creative uses for it.  It can definitely work well to hold notebooks or tablets, and I found the arm slots on the side to be great makeshift pen and pencil holders.  I actually amused myself too by using it as an in-box for some of my mail.  I had a little system going where any incoming bills or anything I had to deal with stood up, and once I paid them or took care of them I laid them down inside the Dumpsty.  Once enough documents accumulated in the base of the Dumpsty is was time to “empty” my Dumpsty into my paper shredder.  Also, notice the detail on the fully functioning wheels of the Dumpsty.  Again, its hard to convey the quality here, but these wheels are very sturdy and roll smoothly because of the quality ball bearings in there that help make it swivel gracefully.

The Dumpsty Detailed Measurements

They always say a picture is worth a thousand words, so in this case its true just because trying to spell out all of these measurements here would have made for an awful reading experience.  I was hopeful that the picture of above with the pens, pencils, tablet and notebook would give some perspective but its always good to have specific measurements too.

The Dumpsty as a Ficus Bonsai Display

Like I said, in order to justify using this as a desk accessory, I had to get creative with my uses for it.  I actually thought it was kind of ironic to put a tree in a dumpster, especially a mini or bonsai tree in a mini dumpster.  For some reason it just felt right and I like the way it looks.  The Bonsai is still in its actual pot because the Dumpsty doesn’t have drainage built in and isn’t actually an ideal size for a bonsai but again, it just looks cool so I went with it.

I really cant say enough about the quality of the Dumpsty mini dumpster as well as the incredibly unique look that it can provide for your desk.  There is no doubt that if you want a very unique desk accessry, the Dumpsty is the way to go.  Hopefully you will be excited to know that we are going to be giving this Dumpsty mini dumpster away to a lucky reader in the next few days, so keep an eye out for that.  In the mean time if you want to grab one for yourself, check out their site so you can design your own.  You can also check out the Instagram and Facebook Dumpsty pages for some more photos of customized Dumpstys.
