What’s the easiest way to wake up your spouse, child or loved one? Some would say an alarm clock but that doesn’t work for everyone. Some people not only don’t wake up from alarms, they have learned to ignore them. Some use this supposed easiest way to wake up as an excuse to hit the snooze and catch a few more snores. For those of us who have not yet found the easiest way to wake up their spouse, child or themselves, here are a few suggestions to get everyone revved up to face the day.

Coffee

How many people do you know who will lay in bed until the smell of coffee hits their nostrils every morning? The easiest way to wake up coffee drinkers in the morning is by brewing a nice fresh pot of coffee. As soon as that aroma reaches the bedroom, their dreams will be interrupted with smells of the real world. What if the coffee lover is you and you are trying to wake yourself up? That’s easy, fill the coffee maker up at night. Use the automatic timer. Set it for 15 minutes before you have to get up.

Bacon

I don’t know a single bacon lover who will not leap out of bed upon smelling sizzling bacon in a pan. The easiest way to wake up most men is by getting up a little before they do, putting on the coffee and slapping some bacon in the pan. What if they don’t like coffee and bacon? How about fresh baked cinnamon rolls? The easiest way to wake people up with the smell of fresh baked cinnamon rolls is to buy the type in the pop open cans in the dairy case.

Taps

The easiest way to wake up people who went to summer camp as kids is to play taps on a bugle. Of course you don’t have a bugle. Who does? So you find the neighbor kid who plays the tune at summer camp and make a recording. Better yet, sing taps like a banshee from hell. They will get up and run for the shower just to get away from you. By the time they have lathered, rinsed and repeated, they will forget all about your off key rendering.

Jump on the Bed

OK, I know it’s mean, but you can do it with a smile. Jumping gleefully on the bed with a happy morning greeting is one of the easiest ways to wake up just about anyone. This works really well in cases of birthdays, holidays and such. Take care not to jump on the bed of people with upset stomachs or less than sunny personalities. Otherwise, that crazed grin on your face and the unstable sleeping surface combine for one of the easiest ways to wake a monster.

Think Happy Thoughts

Let’s face it, having something great going on in your life is always the easiest way to wake up. Teach your whole family this trick and you will have pleasant mornings from here on in. Before going to bed the night before, keep a positive thought of something good that you expect to happen the next day. Set the alarm clock while thinking about it. When the alarm clock rings and you go to turn it off, that happy thought will pop into your head, giving you a reason to hop out of bed.

The alarm clock on your night stand may seem like the easiest way to wake up in the morning. Unfortunately, that technique doesn’t work for everyone. A fresh pot of coffee is what gets a lot of people up and running. The tantalizing smells of sizzling bacon or freshly baked cinnamon rolls is the easiest way to wake up some people. For a more startling wake up try a bugle call or enthusiastic bed jumping. The easiest way to wake up most people by far is giving them a great reason to get out of bed in the morning.
