Almost everybody you bump into these days would tell you under the proper circumstances that they have a novel inside of them that they are sure would be a best seller. So why don’t they write it and become famous? Many people have dreams of all sorts, but they never stick to them. If you want to write a novel, you’ve got to create a plan, and stick to it. In this article, you will learn some tips that will help you do just that. First of all, you need a schedule. Not a dream or a wish, but an actual schedule. This means figuring out how many pages a day you can write, and how many pages you want to have in your finished novel. Then figure you need at least as much time going through it an editing is as it took to write it. This will give you an idea of your schedule. Once you’ve got your schedule, then stick to it. The same number of pages, every single day until you reach your goal.
Of course, unless you are independently wealthy, you’ve got plenty of other work to get to. That means you’ve got to keep your novel writing time separate from all your other time. This can be tough at first, especially if you have a large a family. Everybody will have to get used to your new schedule. But stay firm, and don’t let your writing time slip into
your work time, or your work time slip into your writing time. And realize that you are going to have to give up some leisure time in order to fit in your writing time. Thing of the reader while you are writing. Don’t write for yourself. Write for the people that will be reading your book. This can be tough, since you don’t know them. Take some to hang out in book stores and see what people are reading and buying. Find out what kind of person they are. Then think of them while you are writing. Every time you hit a milestone, like fifty pages, or even your first page, celebrate. Give yourself a reward. Eat a bowl of ice cream. Go see your favorite action movie. Do something to make yourself feel good. That way you’ll be more motivated to continue pushing on until you reach all your other goals. Of course, you are going to have to budget your time. It’s important to maintain your social life, but you don’t want to waste any time. You will soon find that time is very precious. Don’t get caught up in pointless discussions about what that what character on that one reality show should have done. Keep the conversations with your friends meaningful.
Naturally, writing a novel takes a lot of work. But if you are persistent and promise never to give up, you’ll be famous in no time. Just keep on writing until that day comes.
