Canadian celebrities may be less popularized but they certainly do exist. It is so common to hear about Hollywood celebrities who hail from Los Angeles or California. Canada is one of the last places that come to mind on the topic of celebrity. There are actually quite a few world famous Hollywood faces that were born in Canada. Canadian celebrities should be recognized just as much as others and are definitely now starting to get the notoriety that they deserve.

Pamela Anderson is one of the most well known Canadian celebrities for sure. She is one of the most famous Canadian-born actresses. She starred in the hugely successful show Baywatch and as well in a few films. None were more infamous than her scandalous sex tape with then hubby Tommy Lee.

Pamela has definitely had her share of negative press as one of the most controversial Canadian celebrities but everyone still adores her because she is so fun and down to earth. These days she is more known for her role as a main spokeswoman for PETA, an organization that focuses on ensuring the ethical treatment of animals.

Another of the most highly recognized Canadian celebrities is Jim Carrey. Love him or hate him he has now made his way up the chain to become one of the most sought after Hollywood actors. He was born in the small town of Newmarket, Ontario. Carrey knew that he wanted to be an actor from early on in his life. He always had a great sense of humor and people got the chance to see this firsthand through his roles in movies like The Mask and Liar Liar.

There is also Ryan Reynolds who certainly has to be included in this list of well known Canadian celebrities. Reynolds first caught the world’s attention in flicks like Van Wilder and Smokin’ Aces. He recently hosted Saturday Night Live and his fame is surely only going to continue to rise. The wonderful thing about Reynolds is that he has such versatility as an actor. He is able to captivate and bring laughter to the big screen but in terrifying films like The Amityville Horror he can bring audiences to the edge of their seats.

Reynolds is married to Scarlett Johansson and one of the latest Hollywood movies he had a starring role in was X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Reynolds is one of those Canadian celebrities who is only going to continue to pursue his dream and women sure don’t have a problem watching him on the big screen.

Of all the other Canadian celebrities Elisha Cuthbert deserves a nod as well. She is the gorgeous blonde that people remember from her younger days as a cute host for the Popular Mechanics for Kids show. She certainly transformed from cute kid to Hollywood sexpot starring in such hits as The Girl Next Door and House of Wax.

Cuthbert is drop dead gorgeous and that is easy to see but she also has the acting chops to back it up. Faithful audiences have been watching her on the hit TV drama 24 for nearly four years now. She was a lead role and played Jack Bauer’s daughter. The character of Jack Bauer was played by Kiefer Sutherland who is another of the best known Canadian celebrities.

It is easy to see that there is no shortage of Canadian celebrities whether most people are actually aware that these stars are Canadian or not. It is definitely nice for Canada to be represented so well. These Canadian celebrities are just the tip of the iceberg – no pun intended – as there are many other famous Canadian-born stars that deserve to be showcased as well.
