It’s great if you want to help the environment and go green. We know that there are ways to do this for everyday living, but we may feel stumped when throwing a birthday party. Doing a little bit of research will help you to come up with ideas to go green with your next birthday party that you are throwing for that someone special. There are a lot of different things that you can do depending upon whether the party is for a child or an adult.
When it comes to the dishes for the party, use either real plates or the plastic ones that are reusable. Many of the plastic plates that you can purchase are dishwasher safe to make for easier clean up. You should also use real silver ware or even plastic for that as well. You can get plastic at most dollar stores and you can use these time and time again. Look for bright colors when purchasing your plates so they add to the festive look of the party.
When looking for table cloths, purchase those that are made of cloth. This applies to the napkins as well. These are easily thrown right into the wash after the party and will be ready to use for the next get together. You can even spruce it up a bit and decorate the table cloth with pictures that you and your children draw and color.
Instead of going through the hype of decorations such as balloons, have the party outdoors in your own backyard. Maybe even consider a park where there is room for games. If the party is for children, you can have them chase butterflies or even plant a flower. Even for a party for an older person, having it at a park will allow for baseball or football games.
To cut back on bags for snacks and goodies, try to go with foods that are natural such as fruits and veggies. You can make a nice salad and some finger sandwiches to go with everything. This will cut back on the plastic bags and trash that you will need to throw away.
As you can see, it is not that difficult to go green for a birthday party. With a little innovation and some research, you will be able to purchase the items that you need in order to remain eco-friendly for any party, whether it is for your child or a loved one. By purchasing some plastic plates you will not only be able to save the earth from the regular disposable rubbish but you will be prepared for the next party as well. You can even lend your plates to friends and relatives and help them have a green party and save money in the process.
One of the great things about going green is that you get to reuse many of the products that you purchase for your party. You will also be helping the environment by going green and purchasing these products. If need be, do a little research and you will be able to find the right tools that you need in order to have a fantastic party without being a burden on Mother Earth.
