One of the most important parts of a bridesmaid’s look is her hairstyle. There are as many different bridesmaid hairstyles to choose from as there are different themes for a wedding. There are many decisions to make. Who will make these decisions is up to the bride. It is her choice whether she decides on the hairstyles or leaves it up to her attendants. If the bride is choosing the hairstyles, she may also decide to choose just one hairstyle that all the bridesmaids will wear. This is one of the major decisions the bride will make when choosing her bridesmaids’ ensembles. Because of that, there’s a lot to consider.
If your bridesmaids have extremely different types of hair, you won’t be able to have them all wear the same look. Short hair simply won’t go into an up-do and long, thin hair won’t hold curls for very long. Because of this, your first job when deciding on bridesmaids hairstyles is to determine if they have the same types of hair. Of course, the bridesmaids’ hair doesn’t need to be exactly the same shape or texture. But if even one of them has vastly different hair than the other, achieving a completely consistent look may not be possible.
The next thing you need to look at is whether or not your bridesmaids all have the same figure and face shape. Soft curls that frame the face will only make a round face look even rounder. And putting an up-do on a very tall bridesmaid will only make her look taller. Not only will having an unflattering hairstyle make your bridesmaids feel self-conscious, it will also make for an unpleasant effect in the wedding photographs. The whole point of bridesmaids wearing the same hairstyle is for a beautiful and consistent look.
If your heart is set on having the bridesmaids’ hairstyles all look the same but hair or shape issues won’t allow it, there are other ways to achieve the same consistent look. Consider adorning your bridesmaids’ hairstyles with ribbons, gems, or flowers. This will still help give a uniform look when your girls are walking down the aisle as well as in photographs, without making anyone feel out of place.
Choosing bridesmaids’ hairstyles isn’t only one of the most important decisions in deciding on your bridesmaids’ ensembles, it’s also a lot of fun! Get your bridesmaids involved by holding a bridal party slumber party one night. Spend the evening watching movies, eating popcorn, and pouring over bridal magazines. This will give you a great idea as to what your bridesmaids want their hair to look like on your big day and what will look best on them. They will also feel very included in the decision-making process when it comes to what they’ll be wearing and how their hair will be done on the wedding day!
