Decorating a tree for Halloween? If so, here are a few ideas. You can use them all on an ‘indoor’ or ‘outdoor’ tree. All of these crafting ideas are ‘paper’ ornaments that incorporate traditional Halloween images. As a result, children can create them with ease and also relate them to this holiday.

Supplies

  • Glue
  • String
  • Glitter
  • Scissors
  • Toilet Paper
  • Hole Puncher
  • Magic Marker
  • Polaroid Camera
  • Construction Paper

1) Batty Bats – Decorate a tree this Halloween with “batty” bats. Here’s how to do it. Create one bat shape (printable bat). Use it to trace others on black construction paper. Then, draw silly and goofy faces on your bats with your Magic Markers. Be sure to use bright colors. Afterward, punch a hole in one of the wings. Slip through a piece of string and tie a loop big enough to fit over the limbs of your tree.

2) Glittery Ghosts – Ghosts are often associated with Halloween. Use them this as inspiration to decorate a tree. Create a shape of a ghost (printable ghost). Use it to trace others on white construction paper. Then, with glue, draw designs and outline the ghost. Sprinkle glitter over it and let dry. Punch holes at the top of the ghost, slip a string through and hang on tree.

3) Real Life Photos – Reel in the entire family this Halloween, by having a pre-holiday party where you take photos of each other in costumes, making cookies and just having a general good time. Use a Polaroid camera to take your photos. Then, punch a hole at the top of them and attach string so you can hang them on your tree. It will be the ultimate family celebration in honor of Holiday and muster up a lot of visitors on Halloween. Don’t be surprised if people spend more times looking at your tree than trying to get candy.

4) Pretty Pumpkins – Pumpkins are a signature part of Halloween. This year, don’t just carve one and place it on the front steps. Instead, create several and hang them on a tree. Create one pumpkin model (printable pumpkin). Use it to trace others on orange paper. Then, create different faces on each pumpkin with Magic Marker. Don’t forget to add in designs. Once you’re done, punch a hole at the top or side and slip on the piece of string, so you can hang it on a tree.

5) Colorful Toilet Paper – This idea is the easiest one of all. Prank your own house this Halloween by covering a tree or two with toilet paper. All you have to do is roll off long pieces of toilet paper and throw them over your tree. You’re children will laugh their way through the entire decorating time, especially if they are teens.

These ideas are just a few you can use to decorate a tree for Halloween. Use these ideas to bring your family closer this Halloween and celebrate the day in style. For more ideas on how to decorate your home for Halloween, visit HowToDoThings.com.
