The Spanish Omelette. The Tortilla. Whatever you like to call this potatoey treat there’s one thing that can’t be confused when it comes down describing it – just how delicious they are! Yet there are some, including yours truly, who still struggle to make the tortilla with any real conviction. And considering it’s one of the basic vegetable recipes around with just potatoes, eggs and onions as its main components, it beggars the question: ‘Why??’
Well, according to Knorr’s resident chef Marco Pierre White it’s all down to technique. Season the eggs, not the potatoes; get the correct quantity of each and make sure you don’t over do the bottom of it!
The great thing about the tortilla is that once you get the technique right you can start adding things and become a little bit more adventurous. One of my favourite things to add when creating a tortilla is to add finely sliced chorizo (if you’re not a strict veggie), plus mushrooms and extra onions for a little bit of an extra kick! Try adding your own ingredients to this Spanish classic and give the whole family a bit of a treat.
Happy cooking!
