Home Remedies for Scabies

Scabies is a type of skin infection that is caused by microscopic mites that are found below the surface of the skin. These parasites crawl beneath the skin and create rash-like bulges. Scabies is highly contagious so treatment should be started immediately. Many people prefer dealing with their scabies condition in the privacy of their own home. This is where these common home remedies for scabies step in.

Apricot Juice

The use of fresh apricot juice extract has been known to be very effective in the treatment of scabies. The extract is taking from the leaves and applied directly on the affected areas. The extract works well to heal the painful and itchy legions on the surface of the skin.

Turmeric Paste

In a small bowl, prepare a paste of turmeric, margosa or neem leaves. Mix with mustard oil and apply to the affected area. The paste should be applied about 1 hour before bathing. Continue to apply the paste once a day for a week.

Bengal Flour

The use of Bengal gram flour has been proved effective in treating scabies. Not only does it treat this condition, but the flour also acts as an amazing cleanser for the skin. Repeat treatment until the scabies are gone.

Gourd Juice

Mix ½ cup gourd juice with 1 tablespoon lime juice. On an empty stomach, sip the mixture until all the liquid is consumed. Continue this method once a day for about a week.

Coconut Oil

Create a paste using 10 tablespoons of coconut oil and 4 teaspoons of sublime sulfur. Apply the paste onto the affected areas and allow sit for 10 minutes. Take a hot bath directly after the time is up. Repeat this for 3 nights by applying the paste and follow by a hot bath.

Peepal Tree Bark

Another common home remedy for scabies is the use of dry bank from a Peepal or Sacred Ficus tree. The powder from the bark should be applied to help treat the scabies. The powder is also very effective in taking the itch away.

Sesame Seed Oil

In a small saucepan, boil 500 grams of drumstick leaves with some sesame seed oil. Continue to cook until all the water has dried up. Apply the mixture to the affected area. The drumstick leaves as well as the sesame seed oil contains anti-bacterial properties that will kill the scabies mites.

Neem Capsules

Over the counter neem capsules can be taking to help treat scabies. Neem capsules work by purifying the blood which improves circulation. When circulation is improved, the mites that cause the scabies die. Always talk to your doctor before begging any medications.

Remember to wash your clothes, bedding and furniture after treating your scabies. This will help to prevent any future infection. If your scabies infection does not improve or becomes worse with treatment, contact your doctor immediately. Scabies can turn up on any region of the body and can be an embarrassing condition. The quicker you treat your condition, the faster you can get on with your life.
