How Many Bic Cristal Pens Have Been Sold?!?

So I was reading this article the other day about the history of the iconic Bic Cirstal Pen, and it was pretty interesting, but there was one statement that completely shocked me:

By 2005, over one hundred billion had been sold

Keep in mind, that 100 Billion plus Bic Cristals, does not include sales for the last 8 years! I never thought to ask the question about how many Bic Cristal pens have been sold, but this is not an answer I ever would have guessed. Pretty amazing if you ask me.
