How to Be Happy With Yourself

Trying to find happiness in this world can be fleeting, and for those that do not have a ton of friends, it can seem impossible. Unfortunately, friends come and go like the wind at times, and we can feel powerless when this happens. For this reason, it is a good idea to learn how to be happy with yourself, and have a reasonable level of confidence. If you are full of yourself, then you are destined to a life alone. If you are confident, then new friends will flock to your side without much effort at all. Here are some tips on how to be happy with yourself, and gain that confidence to move forward when you find yourself alone.

One very good way to be happy with yourself is to learn about yourself. This seems rather obvious, and a bit silly on the surface. The truth is, most of us have long forgotten the best things about ourselves. Those things that we did when we were kids were the essence of who we really were, and remembering those things can illicit similar actions in our adult lives. Look back across your history and try to find the things that you were proud of. Take the time to celebrate those things, and try to reproduce them as best you can. You will be very happy with yourself when you do this.

Another important part of the process of making yourself happy is to feed that part of your soul that needs feeding. For some people this is volunteer work, and for others might be spending time at the ocean. Whatever fills your soul up is what you should do, and you are not limited to only a few things. Make a list of all the things you like to do and be sure to add in the simple, everyday things. Once you have this list, you can add to it each and every day as you realize there are others. Use this list to refer to every day, and make sure you do something off that list. Doing this will force you to consider yourself when you dole out your time spent. If we do not consider us, then nobody else will either. We have to spend time with ourselves in fun and happy ways.

Constantly striving to improve can be a very good trait, but it can be crippling if you take it too far. Some people will not be content no matter what they accomplish. They will always be looking to the next mountain, and not get to see the scenery along the way. If you really want to be happy with yourself, you have to stop and smell the roses along the way. When you accomplish something, sit back and enjoy it for a little while. Write it down so you do not forget it in a journal, and then revisit your accomplishments from time to time. It is very easy to forget how great a memory is when it is not written down. Take the time to do this.

These are only a few tips on how to be happy with yourself, but they should get you off and running. Just remember…we can only love others well when we first learn to love ourselves.
