As people age they may notice that dark or brown spots begin to appear on their face, arms, and legs. Because we rely on our legs so much to carry us through the day, the brown spots often tend to appear here the most. Dark spots are not only due to the pressure that legs are under throughout our day. They can also be caused by overexposure to the sun, trauma, stress, and aging. Knowing these reasons may help you better understand your dark spots but it won’t make you like them any more. Harsh chemicals and microdermabrasion are a couple of solutions but not only can these be unhealthy but, costly too! Here are some natural remedies that will help you get rid of the dark spots on your legs.

Aloe Vera is known as being one of skin’s best friends and you can use it on the dark spots on your legs. Simply snip off a leaf from an Aloe Vera plant and rinse it with cold water. Snip off the top of the leaf. Going from the bottom to the top, squeeze the leaf until the Aloe Vera cool, clear gel starts to ooze out of the top of the leaf. You can squeeze this onto your fingertip or directly onto your leg. Spread the gel over the dark spots and rub it into the skin until you can no longer see it. This should be done twice daily.

You can also use the gel from the Aloe Vera plant mixed with Vitamin E oil to help clear up the dark spots on your legs. To extract Vitamin E oil, simply open a capsule of Vitamin E to release the liquid inside. Using equal parts, mix it with the Aloe Vera gel. Apply to the legs as you would when using the Aloe Vera gel alone. This should also be done twice a day to get the most effective results.

Lemons are highly toted as a natural skin lightener and it’s no different when referring to the legs. When using lemons, squeeze the juice either into a small bowl and apply it or squeeze it directly onto the legs. It’s important to make sure that if you use lemons as a lightening product, that you only use fresh lemons. Bottled lemon juice often has many other ingredients that will counteract the lightening effect as well as irritate the skin.

Lemons though aren’t only the natural fruit that you can use to get rid of the dark spots on your legs! Watermelon can also be very useful. To use watermelon for this purpose, simply cut out the flesh of the watermelon. Using the smooth inside part of the watermelon rind, rub it against the brown spots on your legs.

It’s important to remember that whatever natural product you use to get rid of the dark spots on your legs, that you also combine it with sunscreen when going out into the sun. Even if you have gotten rid of the dark spots, a short amount of time in the sun can make them reappear. And not only will protecting your skin from the sun help get rid of dark spots, it will help prevent more from appearing as well!
