Eco-friendly options are available for everything from household cleaners to dog food. Are you in the process of transitioning to a greener lifestyle? If so, then you are probably constantly on the lookout for tips to improve how healthy the products that you use are for both your skin and the environment. Here are some skin care tips for anyone who is trying to go green.

Avoid Using Body Sprays or Fragrances

Not using body sprays or fragrances is one of the first changes that you will want to make in terms of greener skin care. The reason is because the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not regulate all of the toxins that go into fragrances. You never know what exactly you are spraying onto your skin when using any fragrance. Unless you are absolutely sure of what type of ingredients the fragrance contains, it is a good to avoid spraying on your skin or in the air.

Refrain From Cancer-Causing Deodorants

There are certain types of deodorants which are not the most ideal choices for someone who wants to protect their skin and the environment. Although all deodorant is not known to be particularly healthy, there are some types which are worse than others. Avoid using deodorant that comes in an aerosol can. Not only is it known to be harmful for the environment, but it can actually cause you to develop cancer. Not using any deodorant is something that many of us are unable to fathom, but vinegar, aloe, and baking soda can be eco-friendly alternatives.

Know the Ingredients in Finger Nail Polish

Most women enjoy painting their nails or toenails. Keep in mind that there are some terrible ingredients which can be found in finger nail polish, such as rat poison and formaldehyde. There are some finger nail polishes out on the market which contain ingredients that are much more natural. If you feel the need to paint your nails at all, it is a good idea to use one of those products.

Purchase Organic Skin Care Products

Many skin care products are offered in organic varieties. Whether you need lip balm, foundation, or eye shadow, it is likely that you will find an organic product that is suitable for you. It is also a good idea to look for organic facial cleansers. All that you need to do is a basic internet search to find out what organic skin care products may interest you.

Go Au Naturale Whenever Possible

One of the best ways to go green when it comes to skin care is to go au naturale whenever possible. Instead of caking on the makeup, use a very small amount or try to avoid wearing any at all. This is one of the best ways to prevent any toxins from going into your skin. Also keep in mind that the less makeup that you use, the less garbage from makeup packaging you will throw away.

These are just a few skin care tips for those who are interested in going green. Although it may seem very challenging to go green, all that you will need to do is make a few simple changes to your shopping list and skin care routine.
