For decades now, the movies has been one of the premier places to take someone on a date. However, that can make going to the movies a little blasé, and a little bland. Unless of course, you take steps to make it a special evening. This may not be as expensive, or as difficult, as most people think.
The first step to making any night at the movies a special night is to tailor it to who you’re taking out. If you’re going on a date with a woman who likes romantic comedies, or with a guy who prefers explosive action films, keep those tastes in mind. If you want to make it a special night, it’s usually a good idea to think of your date before yourself when it comes to the choice of film for the evening. If you’re not sure what would best suit, then have a casual conversation with your date and see what they’re interested in seeing. If you can keep things subtle, then the surprise about the film will be an extra, added touch to the movie date.
The second step to making a movie date special is to choose a special location. For some people, this could mean finding an older-style theater to go see the movie at. This works especially well if your date appreciates theaters with a little bit of history to them. This could also work if your date would appreciate a second-run theater. Finding out that they haven’t missed their last opportunity to see a movie they were hoping to catch in theaters can be an extra, added benefit if you want to make your date at the movies a little more special. Lastly, if you and your date have a bit of history between the two of you, then it might be a good idea to take them to a theater that has some special meaning.
In addition to these suggestions though, there are other ways to make a movie date a unique evening. You could make it a night in, curled up on the couch and sharing some popcorn. The setting is more intimate, and much more casual. Beyond that though, it offers you more than enough privacy, in case the evening develops further than you thought it might. Drive-in movies also offer a couple going to the movies more privacy than a usual theater. If you own a pickup truck, SUV, or a van, then that makes the drive-in an even better way to make it a great night.
Of course, these are all big, sweeping ways to make your movie date a special night. There are other, little touches that can be added to make the date into a special evening. The usual gift of flowers, chocolate, or other small presents makes for a good start to a special night. Dinner, whether it’s at home or at a restaurant, is also a particularly fine touch. Don’t be afraid to add a touch of the traditional, or to go your own way if you want to make it a particularly memorable date night.
