Writing a best selling novel is the dream of many, yet very few get started, let alone finish this monumental task. Because you are reading this right now, you are well ahead of the rest of the crowd. The most important thing in any endeavor such as this is determination. In this article, you’ll learn how to keep your motivation high, so you will keep writing, day after day, until you get published. There are two different people who sit down to write novels. Those with specific goals in mind, and those who only enjoy the feeling of writing a novel. If you have a specific goal, you have a much higher chance of getting there. However, if you only like the idea of writing a novel, you might never finish. That’s why you need to set a concrete goal in order to keep pushing forward.

Give yourself a writing place without any distractions. Sure, the idea of being a coffee shop novelist is really enticing, and there are lots of movies about famous authors who get inspired by watching people in Starbucks, but it usually doesn’t work like that. Give yourself a place to write where there are no distractions. No TV, no radio, and if you can, disconnect your Internet wh

ile you are writing. It’s too easy to get distracted by the latest Internet gossip. Create your workspace that is most conducive to writing. If you write better on a computer, get a computer and only use it to write. If you write better on a typewriter, then make sure you’ve got plenty of paper. Give yourself a big space over your writing space so you can put up a white board. That way you can jot down any ideas relating to your plot or character development. This is a great way to stay on top of things. You definitely need a schedule. Try to write a certain number of words, or a certain number of pages, every single day. Try not to give yourself a time limit, because it’s easy to waste time and not realize it. Stick to a couple thousand words a day, or a few pages a day. You have to give one hundred percent of yourself to this task. Don’t write only when you feel like it, or only when you feel inspired. Write every day, at the same time. Even if you write gibberish, you should write every day. When you finally get into a rhythm, that dreaded writers block will happen less and less frequently.

When you follow these tips, writing your novel will be easier than ever. Just get started, stick to it, and you’ll be done in no time.
