The off-duty trend is a key new style for autumn-winter, with leggings for women central to the look.

Inspired by the models who look just as good off the catwalk as they do on it, the aim of the off-duty look is to appear effortlessly stylish with an eclectic mix of prints, colours and textures.

This is a trend that anyone can wear and make their own with little need to splash out on a whole new wardrobe. Throw on a checked shirt with a printed t-shirt and maxi skirt for an easy grunge inspired look, or wear an oversized military jacket with a lightweight summer dress – how you style it is up to you.

One piece you do need though is a pair of leather look leggings. These are a major player for the new season and are surprisingly versatile and easy to wear. Try them with a long line slouchy vest or t-shirt, an oversized t-shirt dress and biker boots by day – then glam them up for a night out by adding heels and a chic blouse.

If leather look leggings aren’t your style try the wet look, coloured or printed styles that are a mainstay on the high street this season. While bold florals and tropical prints may have reigned supreme for summer, the new season sees a move to a darker palette and fresh prints, think dogtooth, jacquard and checks that offer a new way to wear autumn’s most popular prints.

There are no rules to the off-duty look, so don’t be afraid to mix it up and have fun.
