Expert judges have been running the rule over a Leamington bakery as part of a nationally televised competition, and overseeing just how much work goes into their selection of chocolate brownies, pies, cakes and pastries.
The relatively small set-up in Leamington has been garnering praise for a while, ever since locals praised the up-and-coming bakery for the exquisite produce on a weekly basis.
Sweet As, in Warwick Place, was featured on the ITV programme Britain’s Best Bakery after the bakery was selected by the television company as one of the best in the West Midlands and competed as one of the top three in the region.
Owner Jenny Hudson said: “We were so proud to be able to show off Leamington and the Midlands to the country as a great place to come for cakes.
TV chefs and cookery writers Mich Turner MBE and Peter Sidwell sampled the delicacies of some of the country’s favourite independent, family-run and community bakeries, tasting and critiquing their way through breads, cakes, pastries and pies.
The programme, which started on Monday, is being aired daily for a month as a celebration of the UK’s best bakeries and the delicious food they produce including regional specialities and centuries-old recipes.
Sweet As is an award-winning chocolate specialist which creates cakes, brownies and various other goodies.
Each of its cakes is handmade using the finest ingredients such as free range eggs and luxurious Belgian chocolate. No expense is spared when creating their goodies, as quality means everything to the owners and, in turn, gets them the recognition they deserve for producing such magnificent ranges of treats for the every day. Well, not every day, waistlines are delicate things.
Of course, not everyone lives close enough to try their goodies. Why not use Stork to cook some delicious cookies of your own!
