The perfect wardrobe for a city break

With the long Jubilee bank holiday weekend coming up, a city break may be part of your plans. Whether you’re heading to London to join in the celebrations or further afield, jeans for men are set to be central to your capsule wardrobe.

The key to packing for a weekend away is travelling as light as possible, with a small selection of clothes that can be mixed and matched for effortless style. Jeans will form the foundation of many of your outfits; pick dark wash denim that can be dressed up or down, as well as a simple yet stylish fit. Slim leg jeans are probably your most versatile fit – they’ll work with casual t-shirts and plimsolls by day but will still go with a smarter shirt and shoes for an evening out.

The other key pieces for your city break wardrobe include a lightweight jacket. With the poor start to summer we’ve had so far, this is an essential to keep at hand in case of any sudden downpours. Denim jackets are seeing a style revival for summer and are available in a range of washes and colours at River Island. Select a wash that complements, but doesn’t match your jeans, or alternatively go for something completely different with a lightweight hooded jacket.

Complete the packing with a couple of t-shirts, shirts and some smart-casual shoes, and you’re good to go!
