Step into summer with the key men’s shoes styles you should be wearing this season. From the obligatory espadrilles to boat shoes and plimsolls, they’re all covered in my style edit.

Plimsolls:

A style staple, plimsolls are more popular than ever this year thanks to the huge array of prints and colours that are now available on the high street. As well as the classic white plimsoll, you will find bright colours and fashion-forward prints including paisley, camouflage and stripes that are a low commitment way to nod to the season’s trends. Wear yours with jeans and a t-shirt for easy summer style.

High Tops:

 Eighties styles are seeing a revival, with high tops being one of the major players in our spring-summer wardrobe. Add an urban spin to your look with River Island’s extensive high tops collection including bright colours and sleek white, tan or black styles.

Boat Shoes:

Your perennial boat shoe is back for SS12 and is perfect to wear with chinos or shorts for a nautical inspired look. Try something different and look out for espadrille soles, denim or woven boat shoes to bring yours up to date.
