Notebook with a Pocket Cover by Kyokuto

Today we have a pretty cool notebook that was sent to us from our friends at JetPens.  It is the Kyokuto F.O.B COOP W Ring Notebook, which is quite a mouthful for this little notebook.  Although our review today is for the red version it is also available with a black or white cover and in multiple sizes.  Check out the JetPens Kyokuto F.O.B COOP W Ring Notebook page to see all of the options once you read our review.

The Kyokuto F.O.B COOP W Ring Notebook with Pocket Front View

This notebook with a zip pocket cover from Kyokuto measures 5.5″ x 7.125″ and contains 80 sheets of paper ruled with 23 lines that are spaced at 7mm.  The double coil binding is very sturdy and the notebook easily folds over on itself to lay flat and write on it, assuming you don’t have anything bulky in the front zip up pocket.

When you flip open the plastic zip up pouch on the front of the notebook,t he inside cardboard cover has a simple set of illustrations printed on it.  It shows you that once you are done with the notebook you can cut off the plastic pouch and use it as a stand alone pencil case.

Kyokuto F.O.B COOP W Ring Notebook with Pocket Writing Sample

It’s great that this cool notebook has a storage pocket attached that can hold a bunch of pens, pencils, erasers, or other accessories, but how is it to write in you might be asking?  Well I’m glad you asked.  Its actually quite nice, this is not some sort of gimmicky notebook at all.  The paper in here is smooth and perfectly handled almost every ink that we tested in it.  The Noodler’s fountain pen ink, Pilot Hi-Tec-C, Sharpie Pen, and Uniball Jetstream all dried in one second.  The only pen that didn’t dry almost immediately was the Pilot Juice which took about 8 seconds to dry.  Thats all pretty impressive, now for even more good news about the notebook with a zip pocket cover from Kyokuto.  The back of the paper displayed almost zero show through with most of these tests.  The only one that had a hint of show through was the Noodler’s Blue Black ink which was loaded up in my Sailor Imperial with a Fine nib.  A thicker nib or darker fountain pen ink might end up showing through a bit more though.

Between the convenient storage pouch on the cover and the smooth paper that does well with a variety of inks, this notebook with a zip pocket cover from Kyokuto a solid option.  It is especially good for someone that might be on the road or moving around a bunch during the day.  It makes for a nice simple way to keep some essential items and your notebook with you as you are on the go.  Thanks again to our friends at JetPens for sending this Kyokuto F.O.B COOP W Ring Notebook with Pocket our way.
