OxyLED T120 Dimmable Eye-care LED Desk Lamp Box Front

When the folks from @Hisgadget, offered to send over this OxyLED T120 Dimmable Eye-care LED Desk Lamp (via Amazon) I jumped at the chance to check it out since desk lamps are a critical, but often overlooked office supply.  As always any review items sent free of charge always face the same scrutiny as things that I shell out my own hard earned dollars for, so lets take a closer look at this easy on the eyes (in more ways than one) desk lamp.

So first things first with the OxyLed T120 desk lamp, which to me is the beautiful simple design that allows it to fit and look nice in just about any setting.  The glossy black base and head of the lamp are separated by a matte black tubing that connects the two and is also quite flexible.  You can pretty much bend and aim the head of the lamp to shine in any direction.  In the rather traditional position you see the OxyLED T120 desk lamp above, it measures about 14.5 inches from the base to the highest point.  The rectangular head of the lamp measures about 2.5 inches by 6.25 inches.

The base of the lamp has a footprint of 6.75 inches by 3.5 inches and rises just short of one inch above the surface of your desk when set down.  As you can see, the plug is also not hard wired into the lamp itself, which I always find nice because it gives you a little more flexibility and makes it more convenient when setting up if you need to run the cable behind or around a desk.

As I mentioned, the lamp has a sturdy and flexible neck that lets you turn the light in any direction you want.  You can also see here that when the desk lamp is turned off, there is a red LED light that remains illuminated in the base.  This is a nice feature since you can easily seek out and engage the on/off toggle even in the darkest of rooms, but it doesn’t emit enough light to be a distraction either.

Here is a quick picture to show a little bit more of an extreme bending of the neck on the OxyLED T120 Eye-Care desk lamp.  Probably not an angle you would usually need, but its nice to know it can be achieved along wth any other angle from this low to completely vertical straight up and down.  If for some reason you did decide to extend the neck straight up vertically, the top of it would reach a peak of 20.5 inches.

The OxyLED T120 has a uniue six stepped dimmer that controls the two different shades of light that the lamp puts out.  You can control the dimmer switch in one of two ways.  Once you turn on the light (simply tap the center of the ring) you can either slide your finger around the dial like an old fashioned rotary phone or you can select one of the six positions and tap it to set the brightness of the light.

Here we are almost 600 words into a review about a desk lamp without really mentioning the main feature, the two different colors of dimable light that the LED lights produce.  Usually I like to stick to using only my own photos for reviews, but this photo from the manufacturer does a better job of capturing the light tones than I every could hope to do with my limited photography skills.

With the light set on the highest intensity for the warm light color you can see that it has a similar tone to that of an incandescent lightbulb with that slight yellow/orange undertone.  One of the nice functional features of this lamp is that whatever level of intensity (1-6) you dial it up to, it remains there when switching from on/off to warm or to cool.  Again, the warm to cool to on/off toggle is accomplished by simply tapping the center of the dial each time you want to rotate through one of those three options.

This next picture shows the OxyLED T120 with the intensity at its maximum with the cool light tone selected.  The cool light tone seen here is more of a pure bright white color.  Even at the highest intensity both the cool and warm tones of the light are very easy on the eye but are definitely bright enough to make for easy and stress free reading sessions for your eyes.  The light produces no flickering, even when switching between cool and warm or when dialing the brightness up or down.  This is important because any flickering can cause fatigue on the eyes, which is something I definitely didn’t experience in the multiple hours that I sat at my desk with this light turned on.  Also something nice was that even with hours on end of use, the amount of heat generated by this desk lamp was very minimal.

The OxyLED T120 Dimmable Eye-care LED Desk Lamp (via Amazon) was very easy on my eyes the entire time I had the chance to use it at my desk.  It definitely emits an intensely bright (if you choose that selection on the six step dial) light that makes reading much much easier and less tiresome.  The company also notes that the lights are rated to last for up to 10 years or 25,000 hours even if used at the highest intensity that whole time.  If you are someone that spends a lot of time at your desk, this lamp produces minimal glare, hardly any heat, and gives a nice crisp, clean and non-flickering beam of light that to me was much more soothing than a standard lightbulb.  Give this one a try to make your eyes happy, either at your desk or at your bedside you and your eyes will be glad that you did.
