Pelikan Edelstein Amber Fountain Pen Ink Review

Pelikan Edelstein Amber Bottle and Box

Last week we looked at the Pelikan Edelstein Turmaline Ink, and today we have one more color in the fantastic line of Pelikan Edelstein Inks, which is the Pelikan Edelstein Amber Fountain Pen Ink, which is also their special 2013 Ink of the year.

When it comest to the overall product, I really don’t think you can do better than the Pelikan Edelstien line of fountain pen inks, between the extraordinary packaging, the amazing looking and one of a kind glass bottles, plus the flat out fantastic quality of the ink itsel, this line of ink is a no-brainer if they have a color  you like.  In this case, the Amber Pelikan Edelstein may not have been my first choice of ink color, but after having used it, I think its really growing on me.

Although the name of this ink is Amber, to match the gemstone theme of the Pelikan Edelstein line, I personally would have gone with caramel as the name if I was naming them…although that now makes me think I want to start my own line of fountain pen inks named after candy and desserts.  Anyway, I definitely think it has more of a caramel look to it because it shades pretty well and it reminds me of a band of stretching caramel that is all gooey and melted.  Just like the rest of the line of Pelikan Edelstein Inks, the Amber version handles very well with absolutely no bleeding, feathering, or show through, and unlike some of the others it shades well and has some nice tones in it that even show up while using thinner fountain pen nibs as I usually use.

Pelikan Edelstein Unique Bottles

One of my favorite things about the Pelikan Edelstein line are the bottles, which  you see lined up in the photo above.  Each of them has a one of a kind unique chamber inside that holds the ink.  if you look at each bottle you will see that the way that the ink fills the inside is different on every bottle, and the glass itself is just very clear, shiny and gem-like as the colored ink inside of it reflects and shows off its unique colors.  You really cant go wrong with the Pelikan Edelstein Amber Fountain Pen Ink, or any of the colors for that matter.  If you are looking to splurge on a very well behaved fountain pen ink that you will want to show off in its bottle on your desk, this is definitely the way to go.
