Pilot G-Tec-C .4mm Capped
Last week when I wrote about the fact that the Pilot G-Tec-C .4mm had found its way into the Amazon top 100 list of most popular gel ink pens, it was at number 48 on that list. Today as I write this review of the pen itself, it is sitting at #17 on the list, which is quite impressive and makes me kind of happy to see. I’m hopeful that this is a sign of things to come for sub .5mm pens, and maybe something that can finally surpass the seemingly invincible Pilot G2 on top of the Amazon (and rest of the free world’s) list of favorite pens.
Pilot G-Tec-C .4mm Tip
Much of the feedback I hear from people that try micro tip pens (sub .5mm that is) is that they are too scratchy or that they skip too much so they don’t like them. In the case of the Pilot G-Tec-C those qualities are almost non-existent in my opinion. The grip and overall design of this pen are pretty basic, but the good thing about “basic” is that it is usually a time tested and proven design.
Pilot G-Tec-C .4mm Uncapped
The Pilot G-Tec-C is a long pen, especially with the cap posted, however the length certainly does not impact the balance of the pen in your hand. Even in longer writing sessions, the pen is comfortable and does not feel at all top heavy which could result in a tiresome writing session.
Pilot G-Tec-C .4mm Writing Sample
The .4mm tip lays down incredibly smooth and consistent lines with no skipping, no feathering and what I consider to be a super smooth feeling as the tip moves across the paper. As much as I absolutely love writing with my fountain pens, this is one of the few other pens that really gets me wanting to use it instead. Beyond the smooth feel there is also a very precise and controlled feeling you get when writing with such a well behaved and tiny point. Admittedly the smaller tipped gel ink pens are not for everyone, but if you want to find out if you will like using them, the Pilot G-Tec-C .4mm is definitely a good way to test the waters to see if you would enjoy the experience.
