The paper clip has remained fairly unchanged since its inception in the late 1800s, but this new twist on the design which is being evaluated over at Quirky.com, the Social Product Development site. If you aren’t familiar with Quirky, you essentially sign up and vote for products that you think should be manufactured. You can also vote for the accompanying things like naming, tag lines, and colors in return for a percentage of every sale. Once the product is produced and launched you will start earning a small percentage of every sale. This can add up quickly if the product is a hit and sells in large volumes. Its a pretty cool concept, but on to the Kangaroo Clip.
As you can see from the photography of the Kangaroo Clip, its basically got an extra lip on it that lets you attach and sort sets of papers. So for example if you are a real estate agent, you can clip a few sheets of papers with house listings under the larger portion of the Kangaroo clip and then slip your business card under the top, smaller portion of the clip. It is a really nice way to hold together a presentation or complimentary paper based materials. I’m sure that many of you out there have your own ideas for other things you can do with the Kangaroo Clip though.
These look pretty cool and useful to me, and its about time someone applied some innovation to the paper clip after all this time. If you like this idea, you should definitely head on over to Quirky and vote for the Kangaroo Clip now. Don’t forget that a vote for the Kangaroo Clip can also eventually earn you money for every one of these that is ever sold if it makes it through the product development cycle at Quirky.
