Saddleback Leather Passport Wallet with RFID Blocker

So admittedly the Saddleback Leather Passport Wallet with RFID Blocking Shields isn’t “really” an office supply.  But, I’m going to make the stretch and say that there are probably plenty of people out there that travel internationally for work, so that is part of my justification for reviewing this.  The other part of my justification for reviewing it is that I just really LOVE the Saddleback Leather line of products, the quality is amazing so I wanted to share this with you.

So there are two versions of the Saddleback leather passport wallet, one with RFID blocking shields, and one without RFID blocking shields.  Call me paranoid, or just watch this video of Adam Savage from Myth Busters explaining what happened when they thought they were going to do an episode of the show on how NOT secure RFID technology is.  Bottom line is that if you have newer passport, or will be getting  a new one soon, I’d definitely recommend keeping it in something that blocks the RFID radio waves from potential hackers or identity thieves.  Anyway, enough with the tech-preaching, as you can see, the inside of the RFID passport wallet has space for your passport on the left, as well as two credit card sized slots on the right.  Each of the spots for credit cards or IDs can hold about 3-4 items easily, and underneath those two pockets there is also one larger pocket that runs the entire height of the wallet for larger items. Keep in mind that in addition to your passport having an RFID chip in it, there is a very good chance that some (if not all) of your credit cards do as well, so they are also protected in there.

Considering this is called a passport “wallet” one shouldn’t be surprised to find a spot where you can hold currency, or any other larger paper items.  The currency pocket is the same height and length as the entire passport wallet making it about 5.25″ x 8.25″ so even currencies larger than the standard US dollar can fit in there with ease.  So far the leather is a tiny bit stiff on here, but that is to be expected with the awesome quality leather that they use for these.  I expect it to soften up a bit with more use though.

RFID Blocking Saddleback Leather Passport Wallet Back Pocket

The back side of the passport wallet has another pocket (not RFID protected) that is probably good for things like receipts and boarding passes.  My only very minor issue with the Saddleback Leather Passport Wallet with RFID blocking technology is that although the width of it is small enough to fit in my back jeans pocket, it does still stick up out of the pocket length wise, but only by about 1/2″ so it really isn’t a big deal at all.  If you are in the market for something like this, now is a good time to pick up your Saddleback Leather Passport Wallet with RFID Blocking Shield because as of September 28th they will be raising their prices by about 10% due to cost increases for raw materials that they have been incurring.  Not a bad time to grab anything you have had your eye on there, like my favorite item ever, the Saddleback Leather Briefcase.
