In my perpetual browsing online for cool office supplies, I came across this Scotch Dry Erase Tape (purchase via Amazon) recently so I had to grab it and test it out. As you can see from the package, there are only 5 yards of this dry erase tape on each roll so keep that in mind if you decide to purchase this. It is however pretty wide at 1.88 inches.
This Dry Erase Tape is designed to stick to smooth flat surfaces and is actually reusable, which I will get to in a moment. When it says that it will stick to smooth flat surfaces, keep in mind that doesn’t include most walls since they aren’t perfectly smooth like most glass, metal, plastic and similar surfaces. In terms of the packaging for the Scotch Dry Erase Tape, it comes in a not so sturdy cardboard package that doubles as a spool. The photo above shows the cardboard flap bent down into the center of the spool to act as a spindle.
If you aren’t happy with using the packaging as the spool because its a little on the weak side, you can flip the flap up and simply remove the roll leaving it a bit more exposed. Again, since there are only 5 yards of this stuff on the roll, I don’t think most people will find themselves constantly pulling this off like its a regular roll of tape. You will also limit how many times you need to use the spool to dispense the dry erase tape because its actually reusable. I tested the re-usability and found that after 50 removals and re-sticks, it showed no degradation in its adhesiveness.

I don’t have too many real world uses for the Scotch Dry Erase tape, but I wanted to share it because its pretty cool. Labeling things like left overs in the fridge or wrapping it around large glass containers is one good use. Also it would be good for putting on those large plastic storage bins that some of us store our 100s of pens in, or is that just me? As I said, this is a cool product to share even though I’m not 100% set on the best use for me. I found the Expo fine tipped dry erase markers (via Amazon) a good width to use for the almost 2 inch width of this tape.
