This hotel boasts a convertible window-walled rooftop bar called Penthouse Lounge, making this an all-weather attraction. If you are visiting in the summer time, be sure to check out the super sophisticated pool deck, featuring private cabanas and a canopied pool that overlooks Manhattan.

The Jane

For solo travelers content with no-frills accommodations, try The Jane. A hotel originally built to house sailors, it has been transformed in modern day to an affordable traveler’s hotel. Located in the West Village, The Jane provides easy access to trendy Manhattan neighborhoods, including Greenwich Village and the Meatpacking District. With rooms measuring no more than 50 square feet and modeled after ship cabins, a single person can stay at The Jane for $99 per night. Each room features a single twin bed, large luggage rack, a television, and free wireless Internet. The one downside is the communal bathroom on each floor. Perhaps The Jane is a small step down from the rest, but it’s perfect for travelers.

Casablanca Hotel

Old Hollywood fans rejoice for this Bogie and Bergman-inspired movie themed hotel. This hotel features Moroccan-style décor, complete with beautiful, bright colors, plant life, and even a chic movie poster or two. The hotel eatery, Rick’s Café, is not quite a gin joint but does offer free wine and cheese for guests each day from 5-8 pm. Located in the heart of Times Square, Casablanca Hotel is the perfect stay for a movie buff. As Rick would say, “I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”

Library Hotel

Library Hotel is just that. It harbors ten floors, all of which are named for a category of the Dewey Decimal System. They cover everything from The Arts to Religion to Social Sciences. Each room within each floor features a collection of unique books within that floor’s Dewey Decimal themed heading. Room 900.005 is the Geography & Travel guest room and features reading material relating to this subject. Room accommodations vary, so do your research before you get your heart set on a particular topic.

The Carlyle

One of the premier hotels in Manhattan, The Carlyle has accommodated a host of celebrities, royalty and political figures. Located on the Upper East Side, The Carlyle boasts unparalleled views of Central Park. Room accommodations range from the Classic Room to the Empire Suite, which is an apartment-style duplex. In each room, guests will find high-end toiletries by Kiehl’s and fancy candy confections by Dylan’s Candy Bar.
