Traveling is always a lot of fun. Tourists who travel to North America often want to visit the zoos and take a look at the gorgeous animals. It is best to help narrow it down for travelers with this quest as there are thousands of different zoos they could visit. There are a few that are especially popular and worth checking out.
The San Diego Zoo is one that most people are quite familiar with. This is one of the largest and most popular zoos in all of North America. There is a long lineup of programs offered at the zoo that children and adults will enjoy thoroughly. These activities offer visitors the chance to get a more in depth understanding of the animals housed at the zoo and how they live. There are even special activities for the children to partake in. This includes sleepovers that take place at the zoo.
There are a few different animal zones located at the zoo. Polar Rim, Panda Canyon, Asian Passage, and the Urban Jungle are just a few of the animal zones available to visit.
Of course there is also the Disney’s Animal Kingdom which rates in as one of the top zoos in North America. There are 500 acres of land here that is home to over 1700 beautiful exotic animals. People travel from all over the world to visit this zoo and take in the sights and sounds. The best part is that the rest of Disney World is right around the corner, making this site perfect for a family vacation.
One of the most iconic features of the Animal Kingdom is the 14-story Tree of life – a must see. This is a tree which has carved into it hundreds of different animals. Seeing the tree up close and personal is truly amazing and something that will never be forgotten. At the Animal Kingdom visitors are allowed to have cameras to capture memories to treasure forever from their trip.
There is also the Toronto Zoo which is located in Ontario, Canada. Known as one of the largest zoos in North America, they feature sharks at Stingray Bay and the new Tundra Trek.
The zoo boasts a whopping 5,000 animals for visitors to see up close, and around 1.3 million people travel to the zoo each and every year. The Zellers Discovery Zone is the perfect place for kids. Here there is a zoo for children with smaller and baby animals, and also it offers an interactive experience for the children which they are going to love.
These are just three of the most popular zoos in North America. There is a long list of others as well, so zoo lovers are certainly not going to run out of attractions to visit. Be sure to plan a trip properly and be aware of opening and closing hours at the zoo. Having a map of the zoo will also be important, especially if there are a lot of younger children coming along.
