Useful Tips for the New iPhone User

Among smart phones, the Apple iPhone is currently one of the best rated devices available. My wife and I own the iPhone 3G, and we honestly cannot imagine ever using any other phone again in the future. Other phones seem archaic in comparison to what you can do on this one.

To power on and off the phone, simply press the top, right button. In order to access all of the features, simply press the round indentation at the bottom of the phone. You will then slide the arrow to the right to open the display. In order to save power, the screen will go into sleep mode if left untouched for several seconds. You can control the ringing of the phone, by lifting the tiny metal switch on the upper left-side of the phone up to have the ringer on, or down to turn the ringer off. The larger, metal button below this lever controls the volume. Press up to increase and down to decrease the sound level. These functions can also

The best thing about this phone is that it is like carrying around a miniature computer, as you can do almost anything from the iPhone that you could do on a regular computer. One of my favorite things about the phone is the ability to send and receive email from just about any email provider, including your corporate email account if you so desire. Just go into the “Settings” application and choose the “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” option to set this up. You will need the following information from your company’s system administrator: POP3 host name, POP3 user name and password, SMTP host name, and SMTP user name and password. It also supports web based email accounts such as Yahoo and GMail, which are a bit easier to set up.

The Safari icon is particularly useful when you are away from home, as you can access any Internet site. In order to zoom in on a page, you can double tap the screen, or use another gesture where you put two fingers on the screen, and then move your fingers outwards to make the web page bigger. This also works in reverse, so that if you pinch your fingers together on the screen, you will zoom the page out.

On the Calendar icon, you can plan all of your future events. Just click on the icon, and then scroll to the month where you want to list an event. Then, touch the date that the event starts. Tap the plus sign in the on the upper right hand corner of the screen. If you want to list a specific time, you tap “Starts.” Dates and times will appear, and you can move the “dials” to the time that you want. Then, you do the same for ?Ends? to show when the event ends. If the event is for the entire day, simply slide the “off” to one for the “All-day” feature. Then, tap “Save.”

These are just a few things you can do with your new iPhone. You can also go to Apple?s web site to learn more tips and tricks so you can get the most out of this amazing device.
