Valentino, one of the celebrated Italian fashion houses, is well known around the world for its sophisticated, timeless design and glamorous clientele. Designs from house of Valentino have been coveted and worn by European royalty, Hollywood celebrities and members of high society the world over. Its exhibition of “Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future” this year has encompassed haute couture from the first collection designed in 1959 by the house’s founder, Valentino Garavani, through to work from the Autumn/Winter 2009–10 creations by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli who were appointed as creative directors for Valentino in 2008.
This the one unique dress from the Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2009-10 collection-Valentino evening dress made of bronze and black organza with encrusted lacquered lace. The designer, with the bold conceives, tried with the bronze and lacquere
d lace, and came up with the fresh and attractive garments to feat people’s eyes. From the bowknot of black organza in the back, we can easily notice that this kind of garment is rightly inspirited from the trippingly dancing butterfly. Adding the creation to the dress, put on it and dance elegantly, you will easily be regarded as the cupreous flower wood, graceful and charming.
Just like the dress above, other exquisite haute couture garments has revealed Valentino’s mastery of the elegant line, classic form and opulent detail. Particular themes were explored uniting Valentino’s design approach over five decades: these include the recurrence of geometric patterns and graphic prints, the skilful use of fabric to create dramatic silhouettes and, of course, the distinctive palette of black, white and ‘Valentino red’. The future direction of this most esteemed fashion label is showcased through five creations by the house of Valentino’s new creative directors.
