Wrath of the Lich King Learning About Death Knight Frost Talents

When it is time for you to use all the Frost abilities in the Talent Tree, you will have plenty of options available. The Wrath of the Lich King has brought twenty-eight various methods to dispose of your foes in a short amount of time. We decided to put together an extensive list of everything available for you to utilize. While each one has its own benefits and downfalls, if you can find the right combination during your battles we have confidence you will succeed. Who knows, by the time you’re done reading this your next opponent won’t want to have anything to do with you.

Glacier Rot

Once you start getting used to taking on your enemies and giving them the Icy Touch, there are many adaptable talents to help you along the way. One of them is the Glacier Rot, which when released will allow your Frost Strike, Howling Blast, and Icy Touch to take away more damage from your foes. We recommend using this when you are fighting off those who have more leveling power then you do. The additional damage will be a great benefit to your overall combat.

Icy Reach

Just like the Glacier Rot, the Icy Reach helps a few other Talents from your tree. When you acknowledge the Icy Reach it will allow your Chains of Ice, Howling Blast, and Icy Touch to receive an increase in range. This is great for those of you who enjoy hitting your enemies from afar and taking out their damage before they even aggro to you. This is another instance where it is important to utilize when trying to get an advantage over any monsters in the land. If you are a PvP addict, it will help here as well.

Lichborne

We love the Lichborne because it allows you to change your character into an undead. This is extremely important when you are trying to keep from being hit with certain spells like Charm, Fear, and Sleep. Plus, if you have the right opponent to use this on, they will miss you more times then striking critical damage. We consider this like an all around feature and one of the best parts of the Frost Talent Tree. You will see this as well the very first time you use it.

Killing Machine

Definitely the ability with the best name on the Frost Talent Tree, the Killing Machine is a great tool to help you sustain a critical strike on your opponent. The best way to get the job done is by having it on auto attack and when you produce a critical strike, your Icy Touch as well as the Frost Strike and Howling Blast will be able to throw a critical strike as well. It is just a great way to add additional damage to the hits you put on your enemies.

Chill of the Grave

One thing to remember about your Frost Abilities is they work around the Runic Powers. However, you must understand that all of your abilities need a certain amount of points before you can thrust them upon everyone else. If you want to generate more Runic Power, then use the Chill of the Grave ability on your Obliterate, Icy Touch, Howling Blast, or Chains of Ice. While the amount extra you earn will vary, we do know for a fact that you will gain more then you think.

Merciless Combat

When you see this name you will know it preys upon those who are about to die. Merciless Combat is the epitome of a cold heart as you punish those who don’t belong in combat with you. There are four various abilities that get extra damage points when hitting your targets. These are Frost Strike, Howling Blast, Icy Touch, and Obliterate. So the next time you see an enemy or character with low health, don’t hesitate to use this ability and take them out.

Annihilation

This ability is pretty much a hit or miss when it comes to using the Annihilation ability. While it is a given that you will be able to put more damage on someone when you use this with a critical strike, the biggest benefit is when you use it with the Obliterate ability. In doing so you’ll get the chance to produce an extensive amount of damage on an opponent without actually taking in all the diseases. Keep this in mind when going up against a foe that delivers Unholy type rituals.

Runic Power Mastery

Even though there really isn’t much to the Runic Power Mastery, it’s still a crucial part of your abilities list. Since you need RP throughout the game it’s important to have this component in your repertoire. Once you take the initiative and use it, you will notice that the Runic Power Mastery will increase it to the maximum amount. In the end this can help you build the rest of your abilities on the list and become one of the most invincible Death Knights throughout the land.

Deathchill

Critical hits are definitely one of your top goals throughout the Northrend region. If you take advantage of the Deathchill you will be able to use critical strikes with Icy Touch, Frost Strike and Howling Blast. However, you must use them wisely if you plan on become a force to be reckoned with in the World of Warcraft gaming series. We suggest reading about all three of your Talents that can use this type of critical madness because using them at the right time could be the difference between life and death.

Frigid Dreadplate

Now that you’ve had some time to play with your Death Knight and become more acquainted with all the abilities, make sure you learn more about Frigid Dreadplate. This part of the Talent Tree gives you the chance to be quicker and make your enemies miss more frequently. While we can’t tell you how many times you will be able to do this during combat (it varies), we can say you will need it at some point along the way. Keep in mind this works with melee attacks and not specific spells thrown upon you.

Icy Talons and Improved Icy Talons

Using the Icy Talons has to be one of the most frustrating things for your opponents to endure. This is the type of ability that can make the difference in a player vs. player battle. What happens is you will be able to slow down their melee attacks and increase yours in the process. When you are in a group the Improved Icy Talons will give your whole team an increase. For you however, it will keep the speed for the duration of the battle.

Improved Icy Touch

Since you probably already know what your standard Icy Touch can do, the Improved Icy Touch delivers more damage on top of it. Since you want to slow down melee attacks from your opponents, the IIT will make it happen with the quickness. One thing many people don’t know is that when you use this ability with your Death Knight, your enemies ranged attacks will be slowed as well. So as soon as you get the opportunity to add this component to your list make sure you keep it handy for the near future.

Toughness and Black Ice

These two abilities are on the short list considering neither one of them are overpowering. While this is true you will still want to be able to use them when need be and especially before you head into battle. The Toughness ability is something that can give you stronger armor for a short length of time. Plus if you are in trouble and need to get away from those slow movement spells that can give your enemies an edge, this can reduce the duration of them all. Black Ice on the other hand will simply increase your Frost damage.

Rime

One of the most interesting names in the Frost Talent Tree, the Rime has a complex nature to it. While the basics give you more critical strike power to your Icy Touch and Obliterate rituals, not consuming Runes could be a benefit to you. If you believe it is then make sure you take advantage of the Rime ability and you could possibly find that your Howling Blast won’t get any on its next use.

The Best for Last

You probably have enough information here to help you at least get started with your Death Knight’s Frost Talent Tree. While there are eleven others that we haven’t even covered, most of them are definitely the cream of the crop. Whether you want to use Endless Winter, Howling Blast, Frost Aura, Chilblains, Blood of the North, Unbreakable Armor or the other five, they are waiting.

Your Death Knight will definitely enjoy all the tricks and techniques he or she can utilize when taking on the Frost Presence. When you start using them in action you probably won’t want to stop playing. If you thought the World of Warcraft games were addicting before, wait until you enhance your Death Knight’s abilities.
