Friend, fellow blogger, and purveyor of fine stationery items, Brad kindly sent over some of his new Nock Co. DotDash Pocket Notebooks (via Nock Co) recently for us to take a look at and review. The super bright an sunny yellow covers with the orange and copper-ish colored Nock Co. logo are a great contrast to the super cold weather we have here in the north east today. … [Read more…]
I’ve always been a fan of the Rotring 800 mechanical pencil (via Amazon) but was reluctant to pick one up because of the hefty price tag and the fact that I’m not a huge pencil user. I finally decided to pull the trigger and pick one up recently to see if it was worth the price and deserving of all of the praise that I’ve heard for them. … [Read more…]
The Pentel Graphgear 1000 (via Amazon) is a pretty popular mechanical pencil thats definitely got that engineering or drafting look and feel to it, rather than looking like it was designed for every day writing. Don’t take that the wrong way though because you can definitely use this mechanical pencil for any of those purposes. … [Read more…]
We have never reviewed loose leaf refill paper before, mostly because its usually such a generic item without any special features. In this case though, the Staples Reinforced Filler Paper with Graph Ruling and 3 Hole Punches (via Staples, obviously) has a pretty cool feature that sets it apart from most loose leaf refill paper. Oh and on top of this, we have also had requests for more reviews of graph paper, so for those that have asked hopefully this … [Read more…]
A while back the nice folks from Goulet Pens sent us a few items free of charge for review, so today we are looking at the second of those items which is Noodler’s 54th Massachusetts Fountain Pen Ink. The unique ink is named after the first all African American regiment in the Civil War that fought for equal pay as compared to their white counterparts. Its a great looking blue black ink, so without further ado lets jump into our Noodlers 54th … [Read more…]
The new Sharpie Clear View Highlighters (via Amazon.com) are designed with a clear window built into the tip so that you can actually see what you are highlighting as you highlight it. As you will see below though, you can pretty much skip these if you already own the exactly identical Uni Promark that we reviewed about a year ago. … [Read more…]
In general pencils aren’t really my thing because I don’t enjoy the writing experience except when it comes to my all time favorite pencil, the Uniball Kuru Toga Roulette (review here) which I use exclusively. With that said though, it was hard to pass up these bright lime green colored Staedtler WOPEX Eco pencils (via Amazon) that promise to write twice as long as regular ones. … [Read more…]
One of the benefits of going to the Stationery Show every year in NYC is meeting some of the great people behind the great products that we all enjoy using. This year I met Philip Döbler (@PhilipDoebler) from Leuchtturm1917 who I mentioned in my summary of the Stationery Show as the person that made my custom initialed Leuchtturm1917 notebook. He was also kind enough to give me a Leuchtturm1917 Pen Loop, which I didn’t even know existed … [Read more…]
As much as I love things that are all black, I do get a craving for some color once in a while. This picture of the Pilot Vanishing Point fountain pen in its box reminded me how important it is to have some color in your life, hence the first image above with the bow ties for the background. This particular Pilot Vanishing Point in matte black comes courtesy of our friends at JetPens where they have plenty in stock. … [Read more…]
In my own life I’m typically a late holiday shopper, so it only makes sense that our 2013 holiday gift guide would come this late in the holiday shopping season. One quick bit of advice I can give you as a late shopper is that if you haven’t signed up for Amazon Prime yet, you should do so, or you can even give it as a gift to someone else. You can get free two day shipping on a ton of items and for a few extra dollars you can also get one day shipping. … [Read more…]
I’ve been a little burned out by new pens on Kickstarter lately, but when I was contacted by the folks running the Apollo Technical Pen and Drafting Scale project on Kickstarter that changed. I don’t have an official review sample yet, but after talking to the project team they promised to send one over once they have production samples ready. For now lets take a quick look at what makes this such an awesome Technical Pen project. … [Read more…]

There seems to be a lot of innovation with whiteboards and such lately, and these Slickynote self adhesive dry erase boards and notes from EcoStatic Inc. are really pretty awesome. As you can tell from he name of the company these self adhesive dry erase boards are electrostatically charged which allows them to stick to any smooth flat surface. They can be hung and removed many times and the charge will hold for 4 to 6 months depending on the surface … [Read more…]
This Hi-Mckee Mini pen and stylus by Zebra is a pretty nice accessory that can plug into the audio jack on your phone or tablet for easy accessibility. Before we take a closer look at it I should mention the standard disclaimer which is that the product was provided free of charge by our friends at JetPens for this review. … [Read more…]
This has to be one of the more interesting and practical office supplies we have had our hands on in a while. The Justick Electro Adhesion Display Boards (via Amazon) don’t require any type of thumb tacks, glue, magnets, tape, or staples to affix flat smooth items to them. These bulletin boards rely on electro adhesion (imagine the static electricity from a pair of wool socks fresh out of the dryer) to attract smooth flat items like paper, flyers, … [Read more…]
