Now that Im back from 2 weeks of being mostly away from the computer, I’ve got a lot of  emails and comments to catch up on from my previous office supply reviews, but I wanted to keep things on schedule here and do a quick review of a simple but nice pen.  The Zebra Hyper Jell JJ101 pen is something that I think I used a previous version of years ago, but I am not able to track down any info to validate this claim.

I remember using a very similar pen to the Zebra Hyper Jell JJ101 when I was in college, and it was probably one of my first (among many) favorite pens that I had.  I remember that it wrote super smooth, it left a bright bold line behind, and it had a simple yet comfortable and easy to write with design.  This Hyper Jell from Zebra reminds me of that pen in just about every way.  I did notice on the initial 4-5 strokes of the pen there was a slight gritty or scratchy feel, but that quickly disappeared and was not a continuing problem, for all I know it could have been a problem with the paper, but either way it certainly didnt detract from the overall performance of the pen.

On the left in the picture above you can see the Zebra Hyper Jell JJ101 on the far left followed by the Sharpie Pen, Pilot Hi-Tech-C, Uniball Signo DX, and Pental Slicci.  I thought that the photo would be helpful in giving you an idea how this pen might compare to one of your other favorites.  It comes off as a big pen but in reality its only slightly larger than some of the others you see.  I do like the larger feel of this pen, but it still retains a nice light feel and has a sturdy construction to it, especially the clip.

When all was said and done with this pen, it was a great reminder of that first Zebra pen that I looked forward to using for my daily note taking years ago in school.  For the price of about $2.00 you get a super smooth writing pen that works well for an every day, day in and day out pen.

As I get through the emails and comments I need to catch up on, Ill also be putting together new reviews from my trip, and my spending spree at one of the local stationery stores that I found to let me stock up on some cool office supplies to review.
